Living a B+ Life (Because Perfection is Overrated)

Somewhere along the way, we’ve been taught that success means going all in, pushing harder, and never settling for less than an A+.

But what if that pressure to be perfect is actually what’s holding us back?

In this week’s episode of the Slow Living Podcast, I talk about the freedom that comes with living a B+ life—why it’s not about giving up, but about letting go of unrealistic expectations and making space for what truly matters.

Why Perfection Leads to Burnout

Perfectionism tricks us into thinking we have to wait until everything is just right before we take action. We put off projects, delay decisions, and exhaust ourselves trying to keep up with impossible standards. And what happens? We either burn out completely or we never start at all.

And the fact is — just by playing the game you are winning. No one would argue that an athlete at the Olympics who doesn’t medal should be deemed a loser, right?
No way. They showed up, they played their hardest, and that, absolutely is WINNING.

What It Means to Live a B+ Life

A B+ life isn’t about lowering the bar or not ever trying to meet your goals —it’s about shifting priorities. It’s about recognizing that done is better than perfect and that good enough is often exactly right. It also means that you count your day-to-day successes and wins much (much!!) more than you pay attention to any perceived failures.

I want you to have the mindset that you are winning just because you have showed up to play the game. And remember — the whole point of Slow Living is that you are playing your own game. No one else’s  — YOURS.

It looks like:

– Choosing connection over a spotless house
– Sending the email instead of agonizing over every word
– Spending 10 minutes decluttering instead of waiting for a full weekend to “do it right”
-Taking the next step, even if it’s small

When we stop chasing perfection, we free up time, energy, and headspace for the things that actually make us happy.
