Hi there amazingly wonderful people,
I hope life is treating you well.
Today I want to talk about Being Happy.
And I’d like to really challenge you to take the time to journal today and ponder whether or not you are happy.
Truly Happy.
and if you can’t answer that question quickly with a knee-jerk, “heck, yeah, I’m happy!!!!”
then let’s explore it a bit.
I did a lot of coaching this past week (which I LOVE) and the same theme came up more than once with my calls.
and that was the idea that it’s okay to WAIT to be happy.
and this happens a lot if you are:
1) a Type A over-achiever who likes setting and accomplishing goals
or
2) if you are a caregiver of some sort (at home, at work, through parenting, etc) and because of that you are used to making *other people happy*
or a combination of the two.
It’s really easy to delay happiness, or shove it aside, when you are trying to Make Things Happen.
you start thinking to yourself:
“I’ll be happy after I finish this project”
“I can be happy when I see a particular number on the scale”
“Once I hit this sales quota I can be happy”
“The house needs to get organized first. Then I can finally be happy.”
“After retirement I’ll have time to be happy”
“when the kids move out I can do all this stuff I’ve been shoving aside and then I can be happy”
Sound Familiar?
This isn’t true. This is just a story you are telling yourself.
You deserve to feel and BE happy right this very second.
The day to day things you are checking off your list and crossing off —
that’s the work. That’s your life.
Don’t rush through them just trying to get to get to the very next thing — *enjoy the things*.
Stop. Take a deep breath. Go Slow.
And as much as you can, enjoy the process. Celebrate each and every thing you do and accomplish.
You are doing SO MUCH and have SO MUCH to be happy and grateful for.
Cherish it.
And if you need help giving yourself permission to celebrate and be happy in the here and now and not in some far-away future — reach out to me and schedule a no-cost call. I am here to help.
lots of love to you — I think you are absolutely wonderful.

Thank you. This is just what I needed to read at this time in my life. I skip a lot of things on my computer. But, when I saw your note, it was like magic. I read and I found another clue to finding my way.
xoxo lots of love, Karen!
