Amy Green: Simply Sugar & Gluten Free
Welcome to another edition of GlutenFreeTV! Our last episode was with Shirley Braden, of Gluten Free Easily (GFE), and I’m so happy to have with us today Amy Green.
Amy Green completely revamped her diet after being plagued with migraine headaches that wouldn’t go away, lethargy, and an overall feeling of ickiness.
She cut all gluten and refined white sugar. The end result: no more headaches, no more brain fog, an uber-impressive 80 pound weight loss, a successful website, and a new cookbook! GO AMY GO!
Amy shares her story and answers questions that newbies have when they first decide to completely change their diet. It’s scary!
Amy and her publisher have graciously agreed to host a giveaway for her new cookbook. If you’d like to enter, please leave a comment below. I’ll pick a winner (randomly) on July 5th at 5pm pacific.
Enjoy the interview— Amy is wonderful, and I know you’ll think so too.

Great interview! Sugar is so present in gluten free foods, it is great that someone is working to make gluten free foods healthier.
My nemesis…sugar. I’ve tried twice to kick my sugar habit and have been successful for short (very short) periods of time. I’m interested in how Amy managed to become sugar and gluten free.
Amazing what the Gluten and sugar does to me and my mother. Sharing is a help to all.
I discovered Amy’s blog by accident and I’m so glad to see her get more exposure. Her website has been such a blessing to our family with our multiple and varied food allergies!
Thank you!
Wonderful! So many of us can relate to your story. Thanks for getting it out there.
Amy is definitely an inspiration to many!
I am so inspired by Amy’s website and story. Sugar has been a problem for me my entire life and then I discovered gluten is no friend of mine, either. As a busy mama with two young kids, I love having options that make everyone happy. Thank you!
I am recently GF and sugar free and it is rocking my world! (in a great way) thanks for the inspiration!
I also deal with migraine headaches that wouldn’t go away, lethargy, and an overall feeling of ickiness. This may have to be looked into, cutting out the gluten and going sugar free. Thanks so much for the post on this one!
Sounds like a GREAT book! I have reduced the amount of sugar that I eat and have lost 10 pounds so far. Would love to win the giveaway! 🙂
Gotta get the book. Love your website.
I cook for a person with celiac. (I do not have it.) I am always looking for ways to cook healthier for both of us. I also eat gluten free so it’s easier to not cross-contaminate his food. So I am always looking for new, delicious recipes to make our food healthier.
This is definitely something I have been considering. I have been having up to three migraines a week lately–and really tired of being tired! Am delighted to have stumbled onto the book (and the website). This book would be so helpful!
This is absolutely wonderful, because I have cysts of the lining of my bladder & cannot have sugar substitutes or sugar free products of any sort & my husband is a type 2 diabetic who can have them, so this is sooo very helpful!! And this is the eve of my endoscopic procedure for Celiac & I’ve already gathered great recipes from this site for my “Gluten free & sugar free world…………now if one of these food T.V. stations would just start a show on how to make healthy SS & Gluten Free foods……….like the Food Channel, Bravo, HGTV, etc.????? There’s a new job for you, Amy:-)
I absolutely love Amy Green’s blog, and would love her cookbook!
Love your website! I am so excited to start trying new recipes!! I would love to switch over my family to eating gluten and sugar free!! Thank you for doing this cookbook!!!
Would love to have Amy’s cookbook! I have been off of refined sugar for almost 6 months and have lost 34 lbs. Also, my husband is allergic to wheat so I have to cook a little different.
I’m trying to go GF to help heal my psoriasis. The less gluten and stress I have, the less itching and rash…….
Who knew?
I love Amy’s blog and wouls LOVE to win her book. I’ve just started eating gluten-free and her website has really helped me feel like it’s going to be okay.
I’m trying to cut out the sugar. Its in everything these days. I would love to win this book.
I’d love to win the book, trying to lose weight, but it’s just hangin’ in there!
I found your page on Facebook today and your Website. I really liked what I saw and shared it with my page.Simply the Best recipes for a much healthier living. My son was diagnosed at age 9 with a type 1 diabetes and my hubby has type two diabetes and I’ve been on diets for years and nothing seems to work so I’m going to give your recipes a try, thanks for sharing and caring.
God Bless!!
Great interview – would love this cookbook! I think the whole world could learn something here from this girl! 🙂
thank you for this great interview..I feel more inspired to cut the sugar…We are Celiacs in my family..but still we love sugar, and even though I know that Diabetes can come with Celiac and I struggle giving it up..yikes. thanks again.
Amy has such a fantastic attitude! Thank you both for this interview.
This really got my attention, as I have suffered from migraines for years and know that sugar affects me. I just am finding it so hard to totally get rid of sugar. Would love to get a copy of the book – maybe I’ll check my local library and encourage them to get it in. 🙂
What a delightful interview! Both of you ladies did a fantastic job. Thank you both for providing information and a vehicle to help those of us who are struggling to come up with great sugarfree and glutenfree menus. I have been sugarfree for years, and now I am glutenfree. It has been very frustrating to me to see so many great gf products that I can’t have because they are full of sugar. I have tried some of Amy’s recipes, and they are wonderful. Thank you, Amy!
I found you from Amy’s website. My hubby was just diagnosed with celiac & I have been searching for info. We have tried several things from Amy’s site & have been thrilled with them!
I need this info – thanks for the great interview and for sharing her website with us!
I have been eating gluten free for almost 1 year by choice. I believe I am gluten sensitive but there is definitely an addiction to sugar. I now use coconut palm sugar, maple syrup or honey.
Amy is such a sweetie who is so down to earth and has such talent. I love her website and it would be wonderful to win an extra copy of her book to share with someone in my family so they can see for themselves what I have been telling them all along.
Great gluten-free TV, and will be back to watch again and again!
Good interview! I follow Amy’s blog and really like her recipes- no refined sugar or flour, just healthy ingredients.
Almost one year ago I was diagnosed with celiac disease, giving a name to the many varied, though thankfully not debilating, symptoms I’d been experiencing for years. My neighbor was the one who suggested I get tested, after finding out three years before that she and her then-6-year-old son have celiac. She has been an incredible source of support, shared recipes, and delicious GF food over the past year. I have already ordered Amy’s cookbook for myself, and would love to be able to share it as well with my wonderful friend and neighbor, Lois!
I would simply love Amy’s book!
I am very interested in the SS & GF “lifestyle”! I have had digestive problems for years and was recently diagnosed w/ ulcerative colitis. Thinking it may help my situation!
What an awesome website, I found the link on Amys page! After years of pain diagnosed as fibromyalgia I was told I was gluten intolerant. My daughter has also been diagnosed as gluten intolerant so we appreciate recipes and information!
I love Amy’s blog and would love to have her cookbook! Thanks for this opportunity. 🙂
Thanks for posting these interviews, it is lovely. And I would love a copy of Amy’s book.
Amy is great! I love her website and I would love to have her book. Thanks for interviewing Amy.
Yay Amy! Thanks so much for another great interview Stephanie. Don’t enter me in the giveaway, I am lucky enough to have a copy! Amy is a gift to the SF, GF community! Stephanie you are awesome! xo
I think this is just what I’ve been looking for! Headaches, lethargy, etc. I eat a healthy vegetarian diet but way too much sugar.
I love Amy’s recipes from her website. Actually having her cookbook would be fantastic!
Very interesting. I can’t wait to give some of her recipes a try.
I love Amy’s blog. Sugar is my nemesis so Amy is an inspiration to me. She creates the most amazing recipes.
So many wonderful recipes!
I also have to eat gluten free and sugar free to maintain my sanity and health. This cookbook would be great to have. Bravo Amy!
Thank you so much for making eating enjoyable again!
WOW!!!!! This would be the most amazing cookbook to own. I was diagnosed both Celiacs and Crohns a little over a year ago after more than 10 years of pain and illness. The gluten free eating has been very hard for me and my family as coming up with good recipes is almost impossible!! And now…….my husband has just been diagnosed diabetic. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I would absolutely love to have this book as a reference! Thank you and God bless!!!
It’s my birthday. What a great gift to receive!
What a wonderful conversation! I have been wanting to stay away from the evil whites (sugar, flower salt) for a year or so now, and this conversation totally inspired me! I have a sister in law who is gluten free for allergy reasons and it has totally improved her AND her family’s life (none of them included in the diet). Fantastic conversation, I am going to Amazon immediately to get SS&GF immediately, might get a copy for the ‘sis for the holidays if I am as impressed with the recipes as I expect 🙂 thanks for sharing!
Also, I am a big fan of Stephanie and always shopping for new fabulous female bloggers!
