episode 6: Laura Wittman, I’m an Organizing Junkie

Real Moms Making Real Money (at home, in their pajamas) And How You Can, too!

Good morning! I’m thrilled to share with you today an interview with Laura, from I’m an Organizing Junkie. Laura has been blogging for over 5 years (a blogging dinosaur!) and shares how she manages her time, the art of saying no, how she handles guilt, and how her new book: Clutter Rehab came alive. Laura makes income through her site, through her relationship with Open Sky, through her booksales, and with her home organization skills.

Laura is an absolute joy, and I just loved doing this interview. I’ve followed Laura’s site for years, and her Menu Planning Monday roundups are an Internet sensation.

Like all of my interviews, this one has a few quirks. :-0 There’s some weed-whacking happening in the background, a few giggly kids, and Laura and I go off topic here and there…

which means? it’s perfect.

Thank you, Laura, for being you— in your writing, in your real life, and with us.

  1. The noise is cracking me up! It sounds like an oinking pig LOL. I don’t know if that was coming from my house or not…so weird. I can’t stop laughing.

I’m going to have to work on my video lighting situation..yikes! Sorry about that 🙂

You are a wonderful hostess and this was so much fun!!

  2. Thank you both so much for this interview. Laura, I loved hearing about how you’ve grown your blog so organically and how you’ve really guarded your time while doing it.
Stephanie, I hope you keep doing these interviews. It’s like getting to sit down to coffee with you and your guest.

  3. Oh, I wanted to add that I’ve never had anyone question whether I really have kids or not, but I did have one lady question if I really cook the recipes I share. If she could only see my kids hovering over the plated food while I take the photos!

  4. Stephanie,
You’ll love Clutter Rehab! I’ve read 100 organizing books, but Laura’s is the first one that really clicked for me. Her voice is so authentic, and she breaks everything down into very small, do-able steps.

  5. it’s here! I came home from a trip to the package. I’m looking forward to nap time!

  6. Absolutely loved this! Made myself stay up way to late to watch it, though; glad tomorrow’s Saturday and I don’t have littles needing to eat.

    Looking forward to more.

  7. Melinda– thank you for staying up late! every time I do one of these, I think I’m going to limit the talking to 15 minutes, but it just doesn’t seem to happen, and I’d really like to keep the conversations as organic as possible.
even though I *know* they’re too long. thank you! We’re spending Father’s day weekend at the water park. :-0
