New Beginnings: Coaching with Melessa (Session 2, Part 1)

In this week’s Slow Living podcast, we reconnect with Melessa—an almost empty nester embracing fresh starts, big moves, and the beauty of beginning again.

Since our last session, Melessa and her husband have moved into a new home, marking the start of an exciting new chapter.

As they sort through what to keep and what to let go, she reflects on how far they’ve come as a couple—learning to communicate better, compromise with grace, and create a home that feels aligned with who they are now.

Moving isn’t just about boxes and furniture—it’s about repositioning your life. With every decision, Melessa is learning to release what no longer serves her and make space for what’s next.

In our conversation, I give her a bit of “homework”: to make two lists—one of the things she’s proud of, and one of the things she hopes to be proud of next. From raising five children and navigating life during her husband’s deployment to finally landing her dream job in grant writing, Melessa’s reflections are a beautiful reminder that purpose and intention can guide us through every season.

We also discuss one of my favorite books, Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life by Karen Rauch Carter, and how small shifts—both in your environment and your mindset—can invite more love, peace, and possibility into your life.

Sometimes, a fresh start really is the best form of self-care.

If you’ve ever been through a big change—an empty nest, a move, a job transition—you’ll find yourself in Melessa’s story. Because the truth is, every new beginning starts with letting go of what no longer fits.

As always, lots of love to you and Lots of love to Melessa!

If you’re curious about what personal coaching might look like for you, I’d love to connect. Every coaching experience is completely unique because it’s centered on you—your life, your goals, and your personal definition of peace. That’s what makes it so special (and yes, even a little magical!!).
