In Episode 200 of the Slow Living Podcast, we continue our coaching series with Kelsea — and this conversation goes right to the heart of what many of us struggle with: food patterns, family dynamics, and the nagging feeling that we have to figure it all out on our own.
Kelsea came into this session with a list of wins worth celebrating:
-
She’s been closing her kitchen at 8 p.m.
-
Hitting her goal of 10,000 steps each day
-
Cutting back on cannabis use by delaying it until later in the day
-
Sharing her progress with her husband Ryan and her dad — and feeling their genuine pride
She’s also been experimenting with binaural beats to help quiet “negative chatter” and reduce Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs).
But alongside those wins, there are still challenges.
Kelsea is learning how to celebrate progress without overspending, how to allow food as part of a celebration without guilt, and how to let go of rigid “all-or-nothing” rules.
On the relationship side, we unpacked how to set boundaries with tricky family members. We talked about why “grey rocking” — while helpful in some cases — isn’t always enough, and how building confidence in your voice can be more effective and more empowering.
One of the most powerful parts of this session was discussing the difference between doing it all alone versus letting trusted people in to help you carry the load. Kelsea is starting to embrace that she doesn’t have to be “the strong one” all the time — and that leaning on others can actually be a form of strength.
If you’d like to follow along with Kelsea’s homework, here are some ideas you can try yourself:
-
Create a rolling 30-day challenge (start whenever you want!)
-
Write down a three-year vision for your life — or update your current one
-
Journal on: If I felt whole and worthy, I would…
-
Pre-plan your reactions to tricky events or people so you’re prepared
-
Schedule something fun to look forward to — just for you
If you’re in a season of wanting growth but feeling stuck, this episode will give you both the encouragement and the practical tools to start shifting — slowly, gently, and sustainably.
