episode 5: Michelle Stern, What’s Cooking with Kids

Real Moms Making Real Money (at home, in their pajamas) And How You Can, Too!

Hello, and welcome back! While on a brief (a bit longer than expected…) hiatus, I was thrilled to spend some time with my friend Michelle Stern, the new cookbook author of The Whole Family Cookbook and blogger extraordinaire behind the What’s Cooking with Kids website. Michelle is ALSO the owner of a certified green business that teaches cooking classes to kids (and parents!).

and she does it all from home! in her pajamas!

🙂

In this interview, Michelle shared how she went from selling Pampered Chef products as a new mom to becoming an entrepreneur. She is a fantastic person, mother, and friend.

Not only that, she’s generous! I’ve got a brand-spanking new copy of her cookbook that I will send your way. This cookbook is in full color, has over 75 recipes and is beautifully laid-out. Michelle has color-coded all the recipes and provides instructions on how to help your children cook alongside with you. This is most definitely a hands-on teaching cookbook, and my three girls couldn’t be happier.

To enter the contest, please leave a comment below and I’ll pick a winner randomly on Tuesday, April 19th.

Grab yourself a cup of coffee, and enjoy the interview! If you have questions for Michelle, please leave them below and I’ll make sure she gets them.

Enjoy! oxxo steph

Update: this contest has now ended. Congratulations to Lynn: This sounds like a wonderful cookbook. I’d love to have this for when my two granddaughters come to visit.
Thanks for holding a drawing!
Lynn

I’ll get your cookbook in the mail tomorrow morning. –steph

  1. Great interview!!!! Awesome questions and answers 🙂 Michelle’s book is amazing…my daughter and I are having a blast going through it together!

  2. I just bought the cookbook today – and I LOVE IT!!!! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!! I would like to give a few of these books away at our “Cardston Kids Marathon” (www.cardstonkidsmarathon.com) – I want to get this book out to more families here in my small town! I would love to win a book, and I would like to find out if I can get some books to give away as prizes! What do I need to do that michelle? Kids marathon is June 22. Let me know if you do promo stuff for events like this? Thanks

  3. Would love to win this! My husband and I are turning our lives around starting with the food we eat. We started this week and it’s going great. Would love to get the kids involved now and this looks like a great way to do it.

  7. I love to cook & often cook not only for my family but “extras” who happen to appear at or just before mealtime. I’m always looking for new ideas & great recipes to try.

  8. I need all the help I can get….with 3 toddlers (2 and under) and a husband that eats later than us…I need help having dinner ready when we are ready without keeping me in the kitchen all evening!!!! Thanks!!! I hope I win!

  9. Do grandmoms count? Sure think my grandchildren would have fun when they come to visit…cooking with little ones is so totally fun anyway !

  10. Like the others – I’d love to win.
p.s. I’ll share with my “Divas” group -10 -12 yoa girls & their moms! 🙂

  11. Love reading your newsletter and getting the slowcooker recipes. I have 3 slowcookers and use them all the time, so easy for me.

  12. Hi,
I am newly married (last November) and am always looking for good healthy food recipes to send to my husband’s kids who have their own toddlers and kids. They complain that their kids won’t eat good food so they shove burgers, fries and pizza in front of them all the time. Well duh, I wouldn’t eat healthy food either if I could have burgers, fries and pizza all the time! They don’t seem to realize that you are what you eat. If I win this, I will be giving it to the most deserving cooker of the family. Thanks and maybe I’ll buy your book anyway and give it for Xmas lol!

  13. Older cook always looking for easy, delicious new menus and looks like this new book would be the right one. Keep on slow cookin’.

  14. I would love to get some new ideas and new recipes. Would like to win the cookbook. Thanks for the contest.

  15. My 2 1/2 yr old niece loves helping her Aunt Mimi in the kitchen – would love to have this book for ideas! Thanks for the giveaway!

  17. Steph…..I would love to win this book.I’ll soon be moving out of Calif. to Texas to be closer to family (grandkiddos) and would love to have this book to cook great food and make loving wonderful memories with them.

  18. Our son just turned 13, and we asked him to take responsibilty for one dinner per week. The problem is, first we have to teach him some basic skills and give him some recipes that are not my recipes (I really only have a handful, and if he makes those then I’m stuck looking for new meals!). This book sounds like it’s just what we need.

  19. I would absolutely LOVE this! I have 2 little ladies at home, and my oldest has the hardest time even considering something besides chicken nuggets or peanut butter sandwiches. I have a feeling all the hands on would help us out a ton! Thanks:)

  20. I am trying to get the kids more involved in the kitchen and transition to a less processed lifestyle. It sounds like this cookbook would be a great fit!
