Today we are diving into Crisis Mode. This usually occurs at least twice in the life of a human — with the two most pronounced times being your Quarterlife and Midlife time periods.
First off, if you are in the midst of a quarterlife or midlife crisis, you are not alone.
This is normal.
You are feeling a lack of control over the trajectory of your life — for a Quarterlife time period (twenties, usually) — this is because you have usually just completed something MONUMENTAL — school, etc —
and now you don’t know what to do.
You thought that when you accomplished that of which you set out to do — your life would be complete. Or you thought you’d feel a different way. Maybe you are dissatisfied because the accomplishment you completed wasn’t your own idea — maybe it was your parent’s idea or a teacher’s idea of success.
And now you feel lost and are wondering who YOU are.
Please know you are not alone.
If you are in your forties, this is (usually) the time for a midlife crisis. Is what you are doing with your life what you WANT to be doing? Are you truly happy? If you keep doing what you are doing will you meet (and hopefully exceed?) your personal and professional goals — or are you just “going through the motions” and you no longer have any joy or sparkle in your life?
Keep listening — this episode is for you.
We are talking about:
- How it happens
- why it happens
- what to do about it
As parents, sometimes we go through a midlife crisis the same time as our children are going through a quarter life crisis.
It’s important that as the parent you remain in control and be a good role model for your kids in this time. They are looking to you for advice and how to navigate through it.
In my new Slow Living book, I talk about the 5 steps to Slow Living and how to apply these steps to the Peace Pyramid so you have a solid foundation for success in ALL aspects of your life.
