The same way “feel the fear and do it anyway” is terrible advice because asks that you ignore your instincts and intuitions —
“fake it ’till you make it” is equally (if not more so!) bad advice because you may put others (inadvertently, perhaps) at risk.
What do I mean? Okay — so, if you are new at a job — you are new. You are not experienced yet, nor are you an expert.
And that is alright! But don’t pretend to be something you’re not —
that will always backfire because your brain and body aren’t connected and you will know that you are lying.
and lying feels bad.
Listen as I explain how I walked my coaching client through the fear of doing something new at work to a place of empowerment.
Without “faking it” and without ignoring her thoughts, feelings, insecurities, and intuition.
