— fatigue
— poor stress response & mood regulation
— memory issues or “brain fog”
— cravings for sweet foods and need for sugar
— insomnia
— frequent urination
— belly fat
— decreased libido
These also are pretty much ALL of the symptoms of a hormonal imbalance such as what happens during perimenopause.
Because of this, many medical professionals are hesitant to call adrenal fatigue a “real” issue.
SO.
Since I am most certainly NOT a medical professional please listen to this podcast with an open mind, do your own research, and do not take any of this as a substitute for reaching out to your own doctor.
😉
That panic attack was most def my wake-up call that I was doing way too many things for too many people — and after that I spent a good 6 months working on my self-care and paying attention to both my mental & physical help.
You may find the following episodes helpful/useful if you think you may be having some adrenal issues:
#17 — it’s not you, it’s your hormones
#19 — intermittent fasting, simplified
#25 — caring for the caregiver
As you can see, this is a subject that I feel rather passionately about!!
🙂
If you have any questions, let me know — I’m happy to help.
if you’d like to share your own Slow Living story — shoot me an email and we can arrange an interview for the podcast, or you can leave a voicemail, here:

xoxo please take care of yourself.

fyi
I have adrenal insufficiency. this is determined by specific medical testing that my adrenal glands are not able to make enough cortisol to meet my body’s needs. it is similar in many ways to type 1 diabetes.
i have primary version, where my pituitary does make correct hormones, but my adrenals can not respond.
secondary version starts with pituitary problems and acth hormone is not made to tell adrenals to make cortisol.
i have to take daily replacement corticosteroids or i will (eventually) die. simular to type 1 diabetes. not anabolic steroids abused by some body builders.
despite volume of information available on internet, adrenal fatigue is not a medical diagnosis accepted by endocrinologists, specialists diabetes and other homornes. “adrenal fatigue” diagnosis and description can be confused with “adrenal insufficiency “. addisons disease is a specific version of adrenal insufficiency.
symptoms described for “adrenal fatigue ” are real and should be invested. however, adrenals are not involved in the way described by some but not all info on web.
not a dr.
🙂 yes! this discussed within the episode. I don’t believe you’ve had the opportunity to yet listen.
I hope you are feeling better with your diagnosis and medication.
