If you love spicy mustard, you will love my review today!  Colman’s Original Norwich English Mustard and Colman’s Double Superfine Mustard Powder.

Did you know that mustard is good for you?

“Fitness fans looking to build muscle and get lean in the coming year should reach for the mustard. New research from the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) reveals that a steroid found naturally in the mustard plant increases muscle mass along with the number and size of muscle fibers!”

Imagine, building more muscle, just from eating mustard?  Wow!

I’m not a huge mustard fan.  I’m more of a ketchup girl.  I do like mustard in salad dressing and in “deviled” egg and potato salads.  I did take a taste of Colman’s when it arrived so that I could give you an honest review.  I realized that I probably should have had the mustard mixed with mayo or on a sandwich instead of right from the jar.  It has quite the kick!  I could really taste the horseradish.  I’m definitely going to put some in my next egg salad!

Since we were having “sandwich night” that evening, I put the jar of Colman’s Mustard on the table.  My hubby is definitely a mustard guy.  He slathered the mustard on both slices of his bread and added sliced turkey, Swiss cheese and bacon.

He LOVED it!  He liked it so much that when his sandwich was finished, he put some more mustard on a slice of cheese and ate it!

Now, some Colman’s history!

About Colman’s

Established in 1814, Colman’s of Norwich has been recognized widely as the English mustard of the world. Using a unique and zesty blend of brown mustard seeds (Brassica Juncea) and white mustardseeds (Sinapis Alba), Jeremiah Colman created a mustard with a flavorful heat sensation that has become an essential condiment and paramount ingredient in Britain’s favorite recipes, even to the highest royal order. In 1866, Queen Victoria bestowed the ultimate seal of approval—the Royal Warrant—galvanizing Colman’s as the crown jewel of mustards and securing its place in the most discerning kitchens worldwide. Sold as prepared mustard and mustard powder, Colman’s provides a pure, fiery and complex condiment for all your recipes and dishes.

Cool, huh?  Royal Mustard!

Colman’s Mustard  contains no dyes, chemicals and preservatives – just 100% pure, irresistible tastiness.  Colman’s is also gluten-free, however because it is still produced in the UK does not carry the gluten-free stamp of approval.

So today, I decided to try Colman’s Mustard Powder, mixed in with my mayo and spread on my toasted turkey and cheese sandwich.  It was really, really good!  Just enough kick for me, but not too spicy.

There are also some great recipes on Colman’s website, like Hot Crab Dip and Easy Mustard and Lemon Chicken.
