I’m very excited about today’s giveaway.  Everyone I know has been talking, tweeting and facebooking about this book!

At first, I thought that this probably wouldn’t be a good time to review “The 21 Day Sugar Detox”, by Diane Sanfilippo, with the holidays coming up and all of the yummy holiday food that goes along with this time of year.  Then I thought, what better time to review this book?  We will all know exactly what to do once the holidays are over!

Many people I know suffer from an addiction to sugar.  Full confessional: count me as one of those people.  I’ve been hooked on sugar and carbs ever since I can remember.  My biggest downfall is candy.  Even though I know it’s not good for me, I feel like I need to have something sweet during the day,  just to keep me going!

So, when I heard about “The 21 Day Sugar Detox”, I knew I had to check it out.

Does the name Diane Sanfilippo sound familiar to you?  Her first book, “Practical Paleo” is a 29-week New York Times Best Seller!  You can check out her website, Balanced Bites.

“The 21 Day Sugar Detox” has three different plans to help you lose your sugar cravings.  Each plan, or level, tell you what foods you should eat and what not to eat during your 21 day detox period.  You level is determined by taking a short quiz before you start the program.  Each level has it’s own meal plan with recipes for each of the 21 days.  There are even modifications for pescetarians, pregnant and nursing moms, those who are very active and need more carbohydrates, and modifications for those with autoimmune conditions.

The recipes look delicious!   There is definitely a lot of good things to eat on this plan.  Some of the recipes included are:

  • Pumpkin Pancakes with Vanilla Bean Coconut Butter
  • Buffalo Chicken Egg Muffins
  • Mini Mexi-Meatloaves
  • Italian-Style Stuffed Bell Peppers
  • Seafood & Chorizo Paella
