Review and Giveaway! The Allergen Friendly Gingerbread House Kit from A & J Bakery

October 15th, 2012 by Lisa

Friday, October 19, 2012 at 5pm PST.  This giveaway is now OVER.  Thank you for all of your comments!   The winner has been randomly chosen and notified via email.  Congratulations Rachel!  Enjoy your gingerbread house!!!

Lisa Irvine writes at Lisa’s Blogety Blog. You can find her at @Lirvine98 on twitter. If you have an idea for a giveaway, please let her know!

Can you believe it’s October 15th already?  Christmas is about 10 weeks away.  Yikes!  It will be here before we know it!

Every year my daughter and I build and decorate a gingerbread house.  In the past, we have used the kits I find at either the grocery store or craft store.  They are fun to build, but I am unable to “sample” any of the candy or eat any of the gingerbread because the house kits are not gluten-free.

This year, things will be different!  Joe, from A & J Bakery, was sweet enough to send me one of their Allergen Friendly Gingerbread House Kits to review!  I actually squealed when I opened the box.

Sorry about the glare in the photo above, I didn’t want to take the house out of the plastic until it’s time to put it together.  😉

The kit comes with:

  • 6 Gingerbread House Pieces (four sides, 2 roof sections)
  • A Display Board (the gold, shiny piece under the gingerbread)
  • 5 Individual Packages of Allergen Friendly Candy  (Whee!)
  • A Variety of Non-edible Figures to Decorate the House (There’s a Santa, a few reindeer, a snowman, several trees)

The kit includes instructions on how to make two kinds of icing:  Royal Icing, which contains eggs and Allergen Friendly House Icing, which is made with just powdered sugar and water.  There are step by step instructions for assembling the house.

The Allergen Friendly Gingerbread House Kit is Nut, Gluten, Egg, Dairy, Wheat, Sesame, Soy and Tree Nut Free!!!  You don’t have to worry about cross-contamination because A & J Bakery is  100% peanut and tree nut free and is a dedicated gluten-free, wheat-free and nut-free baking facility. They are aware of the importance of a dedicated gluten free facility because they understand the level of difficulty with food allergies.  Music to my ears!!!

You can purchase The Allergen Friendly Gingerbread House Kit ($32.95) on the A & J Bakery Website.  They have a lot of other amazing-looking products as well!  The Gingerbread House Kits go fast, so I suggest if you want one or more you order SOON!

I am so excited to be able to giveaway one Allergen Friendly Gingerbread House Kit to one extremely lucky winner!

To enter this giveaway, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW.  HO! HO! HO!

You may garner additional entries by:

  1. “Liking” A&J Bakery on Facebook.
  2. Following @ajbakery1 on Twitter.

*Please note that the Gingerbread House Kit will not ship until mid November.

This giveaway will run from today (Monday, October 15, 2012) until Friday, October 19, 2012 at 5pm Pacific Time.

The winner will be notified via email!

Best of luck to all of you!

  22. Looks like this would come a little late for my son’s Nov. birthday, but we could always do a 2nd one. That is what he has requested for his birthday cake – a gingerbread house…and he has food allergies so this would be perfect.

  24. I always have good intentions of doing a gingerbread house with my boys but the extra effort involved in trying to make it gluten free usually means it doesn’t happen. A kit would be the perfect way to make sure it does.
